BRIEF HISTORY In 1939, four (4) settlement districts were created such as Marbel, Tupi, Polomolok and Lagao. As such, a site for Resettlement Project by the late Philippine Commonwealth, President Manuel L. Quezon through the hegemony of General Paulino Santos Sr., then Army Chief of Staff. On the other hand, LAGAO was chosen as the center of goods distribution and a landing point of settlers. Moreover, there are sixty-two (62) settlers started with fourteen (14) employees of the National Land Settlement Administration (NLSA). On February 27, 1939, there were six (6) dependents of the NLSA has landed until number of dependents was increased to 1,709 and they were clustered from one place to another and the number of NLSA employees were increased from 62 to 85.Indeed, the development of Lagao surpasses other development projects of other Barangay of the City of General Santos. LAGAO today is getting stronger and popular like the big "ALAGAO" trees where the name of the Barangay was copied 63 years ago.
